Initial Configuration of the Star

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The star has the following general characteristics

The star is modeled as an infinite cylinder initially obeying the above equation of state for static polytropes.  We present cases for which n is equal to 0.001, 3, and 5.

In all the calculations, the initial differential rotational profile has the form shown by the equation above.  This rotational profile obeys the necessary boundary and initial conditions required for our calculations.  R represents the radius of the star.

The radial component of the field is independent of time and has the form shown above.  In all cases, there is no toroidal component of the magnetic field at t=0.
